Article 1 Organising Body
The organisers, Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico, with headquarters
in San Casciano Val di Pesa, Florence; VAT Number / Partita IVA 00637480484
and in collaboration with the Siena International Short Film Festival,
announce the creation of the award A story for Chianti Classico
to be offered for a screenplay with the characteristics below, and in
compliance with the following procedure:
Article 2 Subject and Requirements
Works that may qualify to compete for the Award shall be original documentary
or fiction screenplays with a running time not exceeding 15 minutes.
Their content shall correspond to the objectives and purpose of the
present Announcement. The material may be submitted in Italian or English
languages.
Original stories eligible for entry into the competition must be no
more than 20 typed pages in screenplay format (character font 12, 35
lines x 60 characters with spaces - click here
for example).
All contestants may participate with one or more stories, written alone
or with others. The authors must be the legal claimants to the rights.
They remain responsible for the protection and authorship of the works
presented.
Article 3 Objectives and Purpose
The objective of the Competition is to select a story which offers the
best image of the Chianti region and its enological production. Thus
the screenplay will merit being produced and its image promoted.
The Competition aims to stimulate the interest of authors in the Chianti
region. This, both from an artistic, as well as cultural point of view.
Indeed, the Chianti region represents a priceless treasure, the fruit
of a centuries-old historical, artistic, and natural sedimentation.
It is the fruit of man's labour and inventiveness, and is also home
to one of the world's most important and suggestive wines. Its wine-producing
culture and search for quality have a long history under the aegis of
the world-famous “Gallo Nero” label. The stories of the
screenplays, therefore, with the Chianti Classico wine and its region
as protagonist, shall be developed through plots that will evoke themes
giving full rein to the authors' creativity.
Article 4 Eligibility
Participation is open to all persons of age, without any limitations
of gender, nationality, or profession.
Article 5 Judging Commission
Selection shall be made by a commission consisting of 3 film professionals
and by experts of the Chianti production.
The Commission shall have a president elected from within by its own
members.
The Commission shall meet 3 months following the expiry of the deadline
set for the submission of the works. It will award the prize by means
of a bank transfer.
Article 6 Award
The work judged best by the Commission shall receive an award of €
3.000,00. In the case of even votes between more than one work, the
award shall be divided in equal parts.
The award must be claimed by the winner personally.
In the case of failure to claim the award, the prize shall be denoted
to charity.
Article 7 Duration
The Competition will be open from 10 January to 7 July 2008, the date
by which works must be received by the organising body. This submission
shall be exclusively by Internet at the site:
A personal and active email address is obligatory to participate, one
that is consulted regularly and at which the Award's secretariat may
communicate with the author.
Deadline for the submission of works expires midnight, 7 July 2008.
Article 8 Organisation of the Competition
The submission of the works must be in an anonymous form that ensures
equal conditions for all participants.
The circulation of the submitted works shall be limited to the purposes
of the Jury's deliberations only.
All Jury members must sign a commitment to not reveal or draw inspiration
from the works that will be submitted for their evaluation.
In all cases, contestants are responsible for the protection of the
authorship of the works submitted.
The Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico and the Siena International Short
Film Festival may not, under any circumstances, be involved in any way,
in any possible litigation concerning the authorship of these works.
Article 9 Documentation
When the Jury's deliberations have been completed, the finalists will
be contacted by the secretariat and asked to supply: their personal
details and address; a brief biography or curriculum and the authorization
to process the information in conformity with Law 675/96; a self-certification
confirming the legal ownership of rights. Failure to comply with this
request, or the existence of anomalies in the documentation supplied,
will result in the exclusion of the contestant.
Article 10
All rights of the works participating in the Competition remain, to
all intents and purposes, the total and exclusive ownership of the authors.
The Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico shall be the sole copyright holder
for the online publication and the possible production of the winning
screenplay of the Competition.
The Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico shall have complete autonomy in
any decisions regarding commissioning of the possible production of
the screenplay, scheduling times, and conditions of production.
